You know, while the lure of banana bread and dalgona coffee couldn’t stand firm through the strong waves of this pandemic, poetry did! (ok, fine, wordle might too). Especially that of Mary Oliver. To pick from our long list of favourites:

“Instructions for living a life.

Pay attention.

Be astonished.

Tell about it.”

Mary Oliver

Hence, we have decided to tell you about what grabs our attention and leaves us astonished — from what our community puts together. Be it podcasts, newsletters, Instagram content, videos, short films, illustrations, and whatever else might sprout in the future.

First up is the list of Instagram pages from our community members (we have picked 5 for this post, more in upcoming pieces):

  1. Paar: Open Prison Voices: A page that shows and tells the importance of reforms in our prison system and explains why open prisons are humane, safer, and inexpensive to maintain through human stories.

2. The YP Foundation: Their primary target audience is the youth — but people older can learn a whole great deal from their memes, explainers, listicles and more.

3. Wildlife SOS: Science communication is all about getting the public, who-might-be-interested-but-not-informed, onboard on scientific concepts, research, evidence-based data, and in this case, wildlife conservation. Wildlife SOS does this in style with engaging content to get you and me to notice the things that matter and spark our curiosity.

4. Jhaktaa.org: Diverse content, multi-lingual, less-heard stories & policies, voices from the ground and beautiful illustrations — some ways in which Jhaktaa explains challenging concepts in intelligent and interactive ways.

5. NCF India: Impactful language, gorgeous illustrations, updates on events and webinars so the public can understand and partake in conversations on #wildlifeconservation. Their open and free resources (stories/handbooks/workshops) invite and compel citizens to learn and take action.
